Year 9 PASS Camp
Year 9 PASS students recently enjoyed an exciting and rewarding ski camp in the Snowy Mountains as part of their unit, Participating with Safety. Despite the forecast of poor snow conditions, the winter Gods prevailed with fresh snow and as well as some bluebird skies. Over the course of the three night camp, students challenged themselves on the ski slopes (some as first time skiers), developed new skiing skills and demonstrated resilience. The experience also provided valuable opportunities to strengthen friendships, support one another and create lasting memories. Thank you to Jane Timor, Michaela Bourbous and Louise Piggott for taking the time to come on the camp and bring the experience of skiing to life.
Please enjoy student reflections on this memorable experience:
‘During ski camp Lucy, Olivia, Layla and I had the best time. Whether it was learning how to ski for some of us or perfecting technique for others, the camp was such a great experience in bringing both skills, fun and learning together. One of the many highlights for all of us during this camp (other than all the hot chocolates and doughnuts) was spending time on the slopes and supporting each other through the various challenges that skiing brings, even if something was exceptionally difficult. Further, through this trip I think we all became more resilient, confident and willing to step out of our comfort zones, which are all qualities that are extremely valuable in everyday life. Overall, this camp was unforgettable experience, and we are super grateful to all the teachers and instructors who made it possible!!’

‘Our favourite experience from PASS Camp was skiing on the second day because we started getting more comfortable and confident on the slopes. On the first day most of us were learning how to ski, it was hard for us because we were learning how to stop, turn and how to control our speed. By the second day, we had improved a lot and felt more confident skiing. There were some funny moments when people slipped and fell, but everyone was still motivated enough to ski. Another highlight of the camp was visiting the donut shop. The Nutella donuts were a favourite for most of us, and they were even better after a day of skiing. The hot chocolates were also amazing and helped us warm up. Overall, PASS camp was an amazing experience that gave us an opportunity to try new things, challenge ourselves, and make great memories with our friends.’
