Year 7
It has been another busy and engaging week for our lovely Year 7 students. The girls participated in a Cyber Safety session led by our Director of eLearning, Marianna Carlino, where they explored important topics such as managing time online, delaying social media use, understanding the benefits and challenges of online engagement, using their online time productively, and maintaining a healthy balance with regular breaks and time offline. The girls were highly engaged throughout the session and shared thoughtful, insightful responses.
The girls also took part in Compassion activities during Luminary time. They explored the difference between kindness and compassion and considered a range of scenarios to discuss how they might respond compassionately in different situations. These activities encouraged the girls to reflect on how small, thoughtful actions can help others feel seen, supported and valued. To reinforce these ideas, I challenged the girls to do something different this week: to show an act of compassion to someone here at MLC School. I hope the Year 7 girls embrace this challenge and continue to look for meaningful ways to show care and compassion in our school community.
Lastly, a gentle reminder of the importance of balancing study with sport, time outdoors, and connection with family and friends. As we approach the middle of the term, assessment tasks and due dates will naturally become more present. While our brains are capable of absorbing so much, we learn best and feel most prepared when we are happy, healthy and well rested. Encouraging the girls to maintain a balanced routine will help them approach the weeks ahead with confidence and care.
