Deputy Principal Operations

An initiative that has been in the pipeline for the last two years but is being implemented this year is adding music co-curricular to the existing co-curricular awards. This will give our student musicians the opportunity to earn co-curricular points for their participation in the music program. Mr Ramalho and Ms Richardson will share the details to families in the coming weeks. The co-curricular program is not compulsory at Santa Sabina, but I am extremely proud that over 90% of students from Years 2-12 participate in one or more activities over the course of the year, with this rate growing annually.

I had the privilege of travelling to Fiji with the College Sport tour over the recent holiday break. While in Fiji the students were exposed to a range of cultural experiences including dance, singing and eating in rural villages with the local community. The trip also enabled the students to train alongside the local representative sport teams and conduct coaching clinics at a primary school. What can’t be forgotten is the sporting opportunity that the students had trained for since the start of the year, with both the Touch team and the Netball team finishing runners-up in a tournament held in Lautoka. I would like to thank Mr Ramalho and his team for providing the students with this opportunity and ensuring that the tour experience was seamless.

I would like to remind all families and students that if parking on the streets surrounding the College to please be respectful to the local residents by keeping driveways clear at all times and abiding by the parking signs on the street.

This will be my last Veritas Voice Article as I move on from Santa Sabina. I look back fondly at my time at Santa and would like to thank all the members of the College community for their support while I have been here.
