Year 4
In Mathematics this week, students have been exploring the CUBES strategy. This problem-solving strategy helps students approach worded problems in a structured and confident way. We have been focusing on circling key numbers, underlining the question, boxing important mathematical terms, eliminating unnecessary information, and then solving and checking our answers. By breaking problems into manageable steps, students learn to identify the most important information and determine which mathematical operations are needed.
The CUBES strategy supports reading comprehension, critical thinking, and accuracy when solving mathematical problems, helping students build confidence and become more independent problem-solvers.
