Director of Outdoor Education, Tallong Campus
Two weeks ago 44 Year 9 students arrived at the Tallong campus for our inaugural Winter Academy – a three-week pilot residential experience that combines an integrated multi subject curriculum with bespoke outdoor education experiences.
Students are living in small groups of six to eight peers in a cabin and are responsible for the upkeep and cleaning of their cabins and bathrooms. Morning routine includes some physical exercise before breakfast before the students begin their day. The afternoons involve co-curricular and sporting sessions with an evening study period before bed.
The students are into their final week of the program this week and will be bookending their experience with a trip to Wombeyan caves before returning for their final celebration lunch with their parents on Sunday 8 August. Here is a snapshot of some of the activities the students have been doing on their weekend outdoor education program.
