Year 6 Making Waves in PDHPE!

Year 6 Making Waves in PDHPE!

This term, Year 6 students are diving into a dynamic mix of swimming and health learning, building skills that will support them both in and out of the water.

In the pool, students are focusing on developing strong swimming technique while also learning vital water safety and lifesaving skills. They’ll practise how to recognise potential dangers, respond appropriately in different aquatic situations, and support others safely in an emergency. These sessions are all about building confidence, awareness, and practical skills that students can carry with them for life.

Back in the classroom, students are beginning by exploring nutrition and the importance of making healthy food choices to support their energy, growth, and overall wellbeing. They will also develop an understanding of physical activity, including the benefits of staying active and the factors that can influence participation.

Overall, this term supports students in becoming more confident, informed, and proactive about their health and safety. Whether they’re improving their strokes in the pool or making positive lifestyle choices, Year 6 are setting themselves up for a healthy, active future!
