Hockey

Hockey is back, and it’s better than ever! We have more students playing hockey than we have had for a long time, and we’re off to a flying start.

Two wins out of three for the start of our IGSA campaign, including a huge 6-1 victory for our MLC03 side. Big shoutout to Katie Zhang (Year 8) for her MLC School Hockey debut and scoring 5 goals! It looks like we’re in for a fantastic season across the board. A huge well done also to MLC01 for a solid performance in MLC School’s first ever season in S01, the very top of the IGSA Hockey ladder!

Outside of IGSA, there have also been fantastic achievements. Alannah Ng (Year 8) (U15s) and Georgie Coxsedge (Year 10) (U19s) both competing at the CIS Hockey Championships; Alannah for the North Coast, and Georgie for IGSA. This is a seriously competitive competition to get selected for, and we are hugely proud of your efforts. An extra well done to Georgie, who was part of the IGSA team who won the overall championship, no small feat!

Last weekend was also the U14 State Cup, which we had three students compete at on a club level. Alannah Ng (Year 8), Remy Pereira (Year 7), and Anaahat Kahlon (Year 8). They all represented East Sydney, with Alannah playing in Div 1, plus Remy and Anahaat in Div 3. It wasn’t to be Sydney East’s Div 1 side this year, with a fiercely competitive competition. However, Remy and Anahaat went all the way, to pick up the Div 3 Grand Final trophy!

Stay tuned for more hockey updates as the season goes on!

Volleyball

Friday night marked the start of the Monte Volleyball Competition! It was all hands on deck week one, but all involved absolutely smashed it and we had a solid start. It seems that all the girls’ training has paid off! From the coaches’ report, spirit was high, support was loud and positive, and they can’t wait to get back out there next week!

Results were as follows:

  • Senior: 42-47 (Points) Loss
  • Intermediate: 1-1 (Sets) Draw
  • Junior: 3-1 (Sets) Loss
