From the Deputy Principal
We were delighted to welcome back former Olympian and Matildas player Gillian Foster (Thomson 1994), an MLC School Old Girl whose sporting journey continues to inspire our community.
At our recent Back to College and Alumnae Awards Dinner, Gillian was honoured alongside an extraordinary group of Old Girls whose achievements reflect the breadth of talent, service and leadership that has long defined MLC School women.
In a gesture that speaks to the generosity of spirit that sits at the heart of our alumnae community, Gillian gave up her time to visit and support our senior football team. Her presence on the sidelines was a powerful reminder of what is possible when talent is matched with tenacity and when experienced athletes invest back into the next generation.
Gillian also shared some of the highlights of her career, including the unforgettable experience of walking onto the pitch at the FIFA Women’s World Cup and the honour of representing Australia as an Olympian. Her reflections on elite competition and national pride resonated strongly with our students, reminding them that big moments are built on years of commitment, courage and belief.
For our players, it was a special opportunity to connect with an Old Girl who has competed on the world stage and to see, first-hand, the enduring connection between MLC School and its Alumnae. Moments like these strengthen belief, build pride, and reinforce the value of teamwork, discipline and resilience.
We extend our sincere thanks to Gillian for returning to MLC School and for championing our students. We also congratulate all Alumnae Awards recipients and nominees, thank you for continuing to shape the story of MLC School and for inspiring today’s girls to dream boldly and lead with courage.
