Year 12

Year 12

This week, our Year 12 students returned for what can only be described as their last first week of school. It is a significant week that carries a unique blend of excitement, nostalgia and renewed sense of purpose. After a productive holiday period that saw students attend workshops, independent study sessions and the Year 12 Study Camp, the cohort has returned with focus, maturity and a clear sense of the road ahead.

The opening week of Term 3 has provided opportunities for the Class of 2026 to reconnect as a year group through a Year 6 to Year 12 Chapel service, both a return to school Assembly and NAIDOC Week Assembly, co-curricular photographs. At Thursday’s meeting, students heard from David Posker-Hill (acting Director of Studies Y11-12) and Marianna Carlino (acting IB Coordinator) about the upcoming Trial Examination period and the practical preparations that will support them over the coming weeks. These final school assessments represent an important step on the pathway to the HSC and IB examinations later this year and we wish the cohort all the best!

Alongside the academic focus, there has been plenty of joy. One highlight was the much-anticipated Year 12 ‘muck-up’ photo, captured as part of the school’s co-curricular photo day. The photo included a wonderful range of costumes, characters and colour on them all! I trust this moment reminded Year 12 that this term is about much more than their examinations – it is also about celebrating friendships, shared experiences and the memories that have been built across their years at MLC School.

As we begin the final weeks of school for this cohort, our message to the girls has been simple: embrace the opportunities ahead, support one another and maintain balance. We have been incredibly impressed by the commitment so many students demonstrated over the holidays, and we look forward to seeing that same determination carry them through their Trial Examinations, in finalising major works and into their final preparations for the HSC and IB.

The term ahead will be filled with significance, the cohort’s final assemblies, celebrations and Valedictory events. For now, though, it has been wonderful to welcome the girls back this week, their last first week together as MLC School students, full of anticipation, optimism and the collective support of the staff, families and friends who are cheering them on every step of the way.

A reminder that Study Hub will recommence in Week 2 and runs Monday – Thursday on Level 3 of the Senior Centre from 3.30pm to 6pm.
