High Potential Learning
Middle School Horizons Program
Thank you James Adams for facilitating the Term 2 ‘Mini MBA’ program for students in Year 7 to Year 9. This course ran within the Horizons program. Throughout the course, students explored key concepts including strategic decision-making (with a focus on recognising and avoiding decision-making biases), game theory and decision trees, negotiation strategies, cultural considerations in international business, and effective leadership approaches. Each session incorporated interactive business simulations, therefore allowing students to apply their learning in practical contexts. The course culminated in a final project in which students designed an equity joint venture between two multinational corporations. Well done girls!
Personalised Learning
Understanding ADHD: Professional Learning
MLC School continues to support staff build their capacity in the area of personalised learning and support. During Term 2 some staff complete the Understanding ADHD blended blended Professional Learning course.
This training supports our commitment to ensuring students are able to access, participate and thrive in their learning alongside their peers. It is also an important part of our whole-school strategy of challenging every girl at her point of need by continuing to create inclusive learning environments where all students feel a strong sense of belonging and success.
Throughout the course, staff deepened their understanding of neurodiversity and explored practical ways to strengthen inclusive teaching practices in the classroom.
We thank these staff members for their time, dedication, and thoughtful engagement in both the online learning and collaborative discussions. Their commitment continues to enhance the learning experience for all students at MLC School.
Staffing Update
We are delighted to welcome Ann Kelly to the Learning Enhancement Department at MLC School for Semester 2. Ann brings more than 30 years of experience in education across Catholic and independent schools, with extensive expertise in inclusive education, literacy intervention and student wellbeing. Ann has worked as a Learning Enhancement Teacher, case manager and educational leader, supporting students with diverse learning profiles through personalised learning plans, targeted interventions and collaborative partnerships with families, teachers and allied health professionals. Ann brings to the role a strong commitment to data-informed practice and passion for fostering inclusive learning environments.
2026 National Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD)
The 2026 Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability is an ongoing process within the school. Students are included in the NCCD if they receive ongoing adjustments due to disability (diagnosed or imputed). For more information a Parents and Carers Fact Sheet can be found here.
