Interschools Snowsports Championships – Perisher
 
From Tuesday 14 July – Wednesday 17 July 2026, 20 students from Year 2 –Year 12 proudly represented MLC School at the Interschools Snowsports Championships in Perisher.

Across four days of competition, MLC School students delivered some outstanding performances and demonstrated excellent sportsmanship, determination and school spirit. 
A big thank you to all the parents who helped transport students to their races each day, as well as those who generously volunteered their time as team managers and course officials. Your support played a vital role in making the event such a success.
 
Following the Sydney Regional Championships, we are delighted to announce that the following students have qualified for the NSW State Championships, to be held from Monday 17 August to Friday 21 August: 
 
State Championship Qualifiers 
  • Niamh Johnson (Year 11): Div 1 Ski Cross 
  • Cecilia Lau (Year 9): Div 2 Ski Cross 
  • Euna Cho (Year 9): Div 2 Snowboard Cross and GS 
  • Anna Li (Year 1): Div 6 Ski Cross 
Congratulations to all competitors on their efforts and achievements, and best of luck to our State Championship qualifiers and those students who will compete in Cross Country and Slopestyle at the State Championships. We look forward to following your progress at the next level of competition.

NSW All Schools Cross Country 

MLC School is proud to announce Olivia Kalamvokis (Year 9) who competed on Tuesday 21 July at the NSW All Schools Cross Country in the 15 Years Girls Event, received the Bronze Medal and off to represent NSW in September at the School Sport Australia Cross Country Championships in Sydney. We wish Oliva the best of luck for School Nationals later this year. 

We would also like to congratulate Jemima Pun (Year 7) who also competed on Tuesday at NSW All Schools, who ran a huge effort in the 13 Years Girls Event and placed 11th overall – well done Jemima! 

NSW PSSA Cross Country Results  

MLC School is extremely proud of Gem McGuire (Year 5), who competed at the Primary School Cross Country State Championships and placed 7th overall in the 10 Years Girls Multi Class Event. Congratulations, Gem! 

Fencing

MLC School Fencers Compete at the 2026 Australian Senior Schools Championships. 

Three MLC School students proudly represented MLC School at the 2026 Australian Senior Schools Fencing Championships, held in North Melbourne. 

Eri Takeshita (Year 12) and Yerina Kang (Year 11) and Orianna Ellis (Year 11) travelled to Melbourne to compete against some of Australia’s top school-aged fencers. 

Unfortunately, Orianna was forced to withdraw from the competition due to injury, preventing her from participating in the Teams event. We wish Orianna a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing her back on the piste soon. 

Eri and Yerina both competed in the highly competitive Open Women’s Épée event, delivering strong performances to finish an impressive 16th and 17th overall respectively.  

A special thank you to Coach Angelo for travelling to Melbourne to support and guide the students throughout the championships. His ongoing encouragement and expertise are greatly appreciated. 

 

Gymnastics

Dimity Bombotas (Year 8), Kristy Che (Year 8) and Jocelyn Yao (Year 9) represented MLC School Gymnastics at Rhythmic Intermediate State Championships over the weekend. All three competed well against a quality field with a special mention to Kristy for placing 9th overall. All three gymnasts will be looking towards the National Clubs Carnival on the Gold Coast in September.

Hockey 

An absolutely huge congratulations to Alannah Ng (Year 8) a member of the MLC School Emerging Athletes Program (EAP) for being selected to represent the NSW Blues U14 Hockey team. Alannah’s hard work at State Cup, and at the CIS hockey championships have paid off, and the whole school is unbelievably proud of her. Alannah is a big asset to our hockey squad bossing the midfield – if you have the chance to come down to watch the Hockey First team compete, keep an eye out for her! Alannah will be heading to the Australia Nationals in Canberra in October, we wish her the best of luck, and can’t wait to hear about it.  

Diving

MLC School Divers Shine at the Australian National Skills Championships. 

Four MLC School students proudly represented NSW at the 2026 Australian National Skills Championships, held in Adelaide from 11 July to 12 July. Diving Australia has implemented this national development competition which brings together talented young divers from across Australia. Athletes are assessed across Dryland skills, 1m and 3m Water Skills, an overall combined competition and Synchronised Diving. The championships form part of Diving Australia’s national performance pathway, with a focus on athletes’ technical foundations, physical capabilities and future potential. 

Emma Yan (Year 4) achieved an outstanding set of results, placing 2nd in Group E Dryland Skills, 3rd in Water Skills and 2nd overall. Congratulations to Emma and her diving partner, who placed 1st in the synchronised diving event.  

Emma’s diving journey began in the MLC School diving program, where she was identified as a promising young athlete even before the MLC Diving Club was established. Since joining the Club, she has progressed rapidly through its dedicated training and development program. Following Emma’s impressive performance at the National Skills Championships, Emma was selected to train with the NSW Institute of Sport (NSWIS) Diving Program—an exciting achievement and an important next step in her development as a young athlete.

MLC School would also like to congratulate the following students who also proudly represented MLC School at the Championships: 

  • Eloise Dastyari (Year 7), who placed 9th in Group C Dryland Skills, 13th in Water Skills and 12th overall. 
  • Elizabeth Feng (Year 4), who placed 18th in Group D Dryland Skills, 13th in Water Skills and 17th overall. 
  • Grace Luo (Year 4), who placed 6th in Group E Dryland Skills, 5th in Water Skills and 6th overall. Congratulations to Grace and her diving partner, who placed 3rd in the synchronised diving event. 

Congratulations to Emma, Eloise, Elizabeth and Grace on their excellent performances and for representing MLC School and NSW with pride. We also congratulate Emma on her selection to train with NSWIS and wish her every success in this exciting next stage of her diving journey.

World Championship Underwater Hockey Age Group

Year 10 student Zoe Marshall is currently representing Australia at the CMAS Junior World Underwater Hockey Championships in Turkey, competing as part of the Australian Under 19 Women’s team. 

As the youngest member of the Australian squad, Zoe has demonstrated remarkable resilience, determination, and composure while competing against some of the world’s strongest underwater hockey nations. 

Australia began the tournament with an impressive opening-round victory over South Africa. Despite facing tough opposition from host nation Turkey, Great Britain, New Zealand, France, and tournament powerhouse Colombia, Zoe and her teammates have continued to display outstanding teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship throughout the competition. 

Representing your country on the world stage is an incredible achievement, and everyone at MLC School is immensely proud of Zoe’s dedication and commitment to her sport. 

We wish Zoe and the Australian team every success in the remaining rounds of the championships. Good luck, Zoe, we are cheering you on from MLC School!

Water Polo 

Congratulations to Ashley Clapham (Year 8) MLC School Emerging Athletes Program (EAP) , who proudly represented the NSW Blues at the East Coast Water Polo Challenge in Melbourne during the term break. 

The NSW Blues squad was selected from the top female water polo players across Sydney metropolitan clubs, with teams competing against some of the best young athletes in Australia as they prepare for the upcoming U15 National Championships later this year. 

Ashley, who is only 14 years old, should be incredibly proud of her selection into this elite development program, a testament to her talent, dedication, and continued growth in the sport. 

The NSW Blues enjoyed an outstanding tournament, finishing with a 7–1 record, with their only defeat coming in the grand final against Queensland Maroon, earning the team a well-deserved silver medal. 

Congratulations, Ashley, on this fantastic achievement. We look forward to following your continued success in the pool.
