Chaplains’ Corner

Chaplains’ Corner

In our first Senior School Devotional Service for Term 3, we began exploring the parables of Jesus, starting with the Parable of the Mustard Seed from Matthew 13:31–32. This simple yet powerful story reminded students that small beginnings can grow into something life-giving, strong and full of hope!

As we marked NAIDOC Week and reflected on the theme ’50 Years of Deadly’, we give thanks for the strength, culture, leadership and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We’re reminded that truth, justice and reconciliation grow through the faithful seeds we plant each day, through respect, compassion, integrity, courage and a willingness to listen and learn.

Students were encouraged to consider what seed they might plant this week: a seed of kindness, inclusion, courage or hope. Like the mustard seed, even the smallest act can grow into something that offers shelter, belonging and blessing to others, helping our community live out the MLC School values of Courage, Compassion, Respect, and Growth!

Prayer for Term 3

Loving God, as we begin Term 3, help us to be good soil for your wisdom and hope. May the small seeds we plant each day – through kindness, courage, compassion, respect, integrity and growth, become signs of your love in our school community. Guide us to listen deeply, learn humbly, and care generously for one another.

May this new term be blessed with fresh energy, open hearts and joyful learning. May students, staff and families feel welcomed, supported and encouraged, and may our community continue to grow in your unconditional grace.
Amen.
