Happy Book Week!

We are so excited for our book week parade on Friday the 28th August. The book parade starts promptly at 9am. Please make your way to the main playground where you will be invited to sit or stand and watch our wonderful students parade their costumes and books! Look out for our teachers in disguise!

Science Week

The 2026 school theme for National Science Week was Seeds of Science – Nurturing Knowledge for All. Del Monte celebrated on Friday the 21st of August with a series of experiments.

Prep experimented with mentos and coke to see how a chemical reaction is created. Kindy worked with Oobleck, while Year 1 found out how to create a rainbow with refracting prisms and light. Year 2 was testing the conditions that living things need to grow and survive and Year 3 experimented with growing light. Year 4 enjoyed planting their seeds for their living things unit and hypothesised how long it would take for the beans to grow. It was an eventful afternoon full of curiosity and big questions!

Competition Time

To celebrate Book Week 2026, Campion Education is inviting primary school students across Australia to put their imaginations to work and enter our Short Story Competition.

Whether it’s an adventure in another world, a funny tale, a mystery, a poem or a story inspired by everyday life, we want to see where your imagination takes you. With more than $1,300 worth of prizes up for grabs, including a $500 Campion retail voucher and a book prize pack for our major winner, it’s time to get creative and start writing!

Entries close Friday 4 September, 2026. Click here for entry criteria and to enter your piece. Alternatively, you can send your short story to myself or Ms Petroni to be entered.

ICAS Assessments

Congratulations to all of the students who sat through the ICAS tests this term. The test windows are now closed and we look forward to celebrating wonderful results in the coming weeks.

Stay tuned for the next few weeks of wonderful learning experiences here at Del Monte.
