Evangelisation Day

Every year, Sydney Catholic Schools hosts a special Evangelisation Day for students in Years 7, 8 and 9, welcoming students from Catholic schools from across the diocese. It is an opportunity to grow in faith, build community and be inspired through engaging talks, music, activities and prayer. Students returned to their schools challenged to reflect deeply on their life and faith, guided by the theme of the day ‘Trust in the Lord for true peace and strength’. Liliana of Year 7 reflected on the day noting it was a day where Christians ‘unite’ and ‘celebrate’ their faith. 

During this fabulous day we met many new friends from different schools, prayed as a community and learnt a lot from the example of St Carlos Acutis, the first millennial saint‘, Isabella of Year 8, reflected saying ‘For me, the day was not only an enjoyable experience socially but an eye opening religious experience. Throughout the day, we were lucky enough to hear different people from the Sydney Catholic Schools team and learn more about Catholicism and how we can express our faith constantly in our everyday lives. My personal highlight of the day was a talk we had, where two people from the team explained that all of the materialistic things that people on earth claim to bring peace can be taken away from you, but your faith will always continue for as long as you seek it with open hearts. This seemed to be a constant message throughout the day of always prioritising your faith. Overall it was such an enjoyable experience and I’m so grateful to have been a part of it!‘

Our students walked away feeling a greater sense of the universal Church in which our Dominican family is a part – and the great role models we have in the saints to strive for holiness in everyday acts.
