Music at Del Monte and MBH (Curriculum)

Pitch explorations are so much fun! We get to look at the many different ways pitch is notated – using solfa, standard music lines and spaces, and even our own bodies. We are playing on the xylophones in most lessons, applying our knowledge.

Singing is always a wonderful part of our lessons, and we are preparing for our Mass in Week 7.  We are learning our third mass setting for the year – not an easy task – but we are doing really well.

In Week 5 we held a Music Assembly at Del Monte, led by the Arts Action Team and the leader Ophelia. The team led Del Monte in prayer and in song. The Assembly String players accompanied the College Song, National Anthem and Happy Birthday. We certainly did make a joyful noise to the Lord!

The instrumental program for Years 2, 3 and 4 is well underway with planning for Fra Angelico Festival and recorder workshops coming up this semester. Our Year 2 string players had a special visitor to conduct them on Monday. Ms Yu was impressed with their learning and encouraged them in their instrumental journey.
