Visual Arts

This weekend you are warmly invited to join the SCEGGS Visual Arts Department for an exhibition of new works by Heidi Jackson, Head of Visual of Arts, Anita Tesoriero, Visual Arts Teacher and Katrina Collins (Former Head of Visual Arts).

Katrina, Heidi and Anita share an extensive exhibition and professional history spanning over two decades. All three artists are painters, primarily responding to colour, light and form, illustrated in the painterly vibrancy of Katrina’s abstract compositions, Heidi’s subjective representation of the landscape and Anita’s lively, expressive figurative work.

Katrina Collins’ paintings celebrate colour and pattern, creating vivid systems of line, space and form that reiterate her dedication to the most essential aspects of abstraction.

In this new series Heidi Jackson’s works have become depictions of an illusory infrastructure that both underlies and overlays the landscape. Canopies of trees, stippling like rain, the blurring of fence lines into shelter belts, the sense of being underwater as above ground transgress the boundary between memory, reality and the imagination.

As an artist, Anita Tesoriero finds herself drawn to the vibrant energy and joy that people experience on a sunny day at Wylie’s baths, a picturesque tidal pool in Sydney. Her series of paintings aim to capture the essence of these moments, to convey the sense of relaxation and freedom that comes with immersing oneself in the cool, refreshing water on a hot day.

Please join us for Opening Drinks on Saturday 24 June, 1pm – 5pm.

The Exhibition will be held at The Shop Gallery: 112 Glebe Point Road, Glebe Exhibition Opening Hours: Friday 23, Saturday 24, Sunday 25 June, 11am – 5pm.
