Work Experience Placements Wanted

SCEGGS supports all students wishing to undertake work experience and presently we are searching for a placement that might combine economics and law for a Year 11 student. However, a placement that explored either profession would be very much appreciated, too. All students are provided with insurance cover whilst at a workplace. If you are in a position to offer work experience from 3 – 5 days, please email our Careers Adviser Andrea Pinnock.

The Science Experience 2023 for Years 9 & 10

The Science Experience is a fun 1, 3 or 4 days of science activities for Year 9 and 10 students in 2023 program year held on the following dates:

  • 26–28 September at UTS
  • 4–6 October at Macquarie University

Each program is designed to provide students who have an interest in science with an opportunity to engage in a wide range of fascinating science activities under the guidance of scientists who love their work. The program takes place in over 35 universities and tertiary institutions, within many different laboratories and lecture theatres. Participants perform experiments in the laboratories, meet and hear senior lecturers in the lecture theatres, attend site visits and walk around and experience what it is like to be on the campus of a university or tertiary institution. More than 84,000 students have taken this rare opportunity, up to date.

The program also provides information about further studies in science, technology and engineering. It highlights the wide range of careers that allow students to pursue their interest and abilities in the sciences. One aspect of the program often commented on by participants is the opportunity to meet and share ideas with students from different schools. Head to their website here for more information.
