Sporting Teams and Competitions

IGSA Basketball

Congratulations to the SCEGGS 1 and SCEGGS 6 who won their respective grades undefeated all season. SCEGGS 7 were runners up in their grade.

 

 

Basketball

Well done to Illaria Giuffrida who represented Northern Suburbs Basketball Association (Norths) at the Nunawading Spectres Tournament in Melbourne over the June Long Weekend.

The Nunawading Spectres Tournament is an annual event and is the largest tournament in Australia with representative teams competing from all over Australia.

Ilaria competed in the U16 age group playing in Division 2. The Norths team was third in their pool, and placed 5th overall in their division against some very strong opposition.

 

Equestrian

Best wishes to Chloe Copp as she heads to QLD to compete in the QLD Festival of Jumping World Cup event.

 

IGSA Football

Congratulations to SCEGGS 3 & SCEGGS 6 who were runners up in their respective grades at IGSA this term.

 

NSW Hockey Championships – Grafton

Well done to our SCEGGS hockey players who represented SEHA in Grafton over the weekend at the NSW State U15 finals: Jess Weatherall, Zara Grace, Eva Ancher and Audrey Rivers.

Good luck to Jess Weatherall as she represents NSWCIS at the NSW All Schools in Bathurst this week.

 

IGSA Netball

Congratulations to SCEGGS 11 who were runners up in the Year 701 Grade at IGSA.

Well done to Alicia Singh who represented Randwick Netball Association at the State U15 Netball Championships that were held in Maitland over the long weekend. Randwick finished equal second in the point score, but ended placing 3rd overall after goal averages were factored in. A very close tournament indeed!

 

Sailing

Good luck to Grace Morrow as she flies out to Spain to compete at the 420 class World Sailing Championships in Spain in July.

 

Snowsports

Good luck to the SCEGGS Snowsports team who will be competing in Thredbo at the Sydney Regional Snowsports Championships over the July holidays. SCEGGS has a very large team of 51 students this year who will be very pleased to hear of the recent snowfalls this week.

 

NSW Touch – Schools Challenge

Last week SCEGGS entered the NSW Touch Schools Challenge Competitions that were held at the Penrith Touch Fields.

On Wednesday the combined Year 7 and 8 team played in the Junior category. They faced tough opposition in their first two pool games against Mount Saint Benedict and Stella Maris College who were the overall winners and runners up!  They defeated Winmalee High and Chester Hill High in close matches to finish 3rd in their pool and narrowly missing out on the play offs.

The team was Rosie Pallett (8), Antonia Neal (7), Alexa Silverton (8), Gemma Shennan (7), Amy Resnik (7), Annabelle Jessup (7), Isabella Campbell (7), Anika Buchanan (7), Adelaide Gilpin (7), Sophia Hanel (8), Jaime Currell (8), Adelaide Sewell (8), Bella Campbell (8) and Marni Hootman (8).

On Thursday the combined Year 9 and 10 team were successful in reaching the quarter finals of the intermediate age group with wins over William Clarke College, Trinity Catholic College, Stella Maris College, and a defeat by Mount St Benedict. The team was eventually defeated by Westfield Sports High 4 -1 in the Quarter Finals with Ava Weekes scoring our lone try. The team consisted of Rosie Pallett (8), Isla Hootman (10), Stella Argyrides (10), Lily Cooney (9), Ava Weekes (9), Helena O’Brien (9), Annaliese Stackpool (9), Piper Fincher (9), Julia Machliss (10), Sadie Juneja (9), Olivia Davis (9), Lola Hush (9), Lily Stafford (9) and Ellie Earwaker (10).

Intermediate Team

Well done to all players who compete and thank you to our staff of Ms Thompson, Mr Hammond and Head Coach Matt Wagstaff.

 

Water Polo

Best wishes to Claudia Quinn will be representing the Australian U17 Water Polo Team as they tour Europe in July. Good luck also to Elizabeth Shin as she is heading to the United States to compete at the US Junior Water Polo Olympics to be held in California.
