From Ms Allum

On the eve of our Term 2 holidays, I am sure you are all looking forward to what will hopefully be a few weeks of rejuvenation. Although a short term, there have been many occasions where the SCEGGS spirit has come to fore, from our Drama productions, Music concerts, Sport Carnivals, National Reconciliation Week celebrations, P&F gatherings and of course, the rich learning opportunities in the classroom and beyond.

Many of you would have seen that the redevelopment of Wilkinson House is progressing! Australian-owned firm Grindley Constructions has taken possession of the building. Pre-construction activities, including establishing the site compound and construction zone and installing the hoardings/gantries are well underway, and the crane is currently being installed. Initial work will ensure the protection and retention of the façade as well as the foyer (the Forbes Street entry). Following this, the builders will remove the roof to allow for the demolition to occur from top to bottom, with the four walls being further fortified. Further excavation to accommodate the bottom floor and connection to the Sports Hall will take place and the builders will then build the new internal structure from the bottom to the top. While it is still very early days, we are hopeful that our school and community will be able to enjoy the benefits of a revitalised Wilkinson House by the beginning of 2025. I take this opportunity to thank you all for your patience and support as we work together to bring our girls the best learning spaces possible.

During the break, our school will turn 128 years young (on 17 July) and we will mark this occasion with our annual Foundation Day Assembly on the first day of term.  Until then, Happy Holidays!

Best wishes
