Year 9 Reflection Day

Year 9 Reflection Day

They reflected on how they could be called to respond and say ‘yes’ to other acts of service within their community. Students had the opportunity to listen to Ms Vu’s testimony about her pilgrimages from World Youth Day and Ms Clarke’s stories on the Cambodia Immersion and Marist Sony Camp. The day consisted of fun icebreakers, small group discussions, a liturgy and packing toiletry bags for St Vincent de Paul in preparation for Christmas.

Below are some of the highlights from students:

“Hearing the stories about the less fortunate made me think of how lucky we are.”

“I became more aware of the power of saying ‘yes’.”

“I learnt about how I can involve myself more in my community through activities and programs that MSCW and other schools offer.”

“Packing the bags for Vinnies made me empathise more with the less fortunate. I feel grateful for what I have.”

A huge thank you to Rosario Poli, Veronica Barbagallo, Galen Neubronner, Matthew Iskander, Te’Annie Makdessi and Leonie Clarke for assisting and facilitating the activities throughout the day.
