Year 6 PDHPE: Exploring Emotions and Dance
This term in PDHPE, our Year 6 students have been exploring the important topic of emotions and emotional wellbeing. Students have been learning to recognise and name different emotions, understand how emotions can influence our thoughts and behaviours, and explore positive strategies for managing challenging emotions.
Through a range of scenarios and class discussions, students have considered how different emotions can affect the way we respond to situations. They have also explored practical strategies to help manage these emotions, including taking a break, using calming techniques, talking to someone they trust and thinking before they act.
Alongside their learning in Health, students have been developing their creativity and confidence through Dance. They have been learning how movement, music and body language can be used to communicate ideas and emotions. Students have enjoyed experimenting with different movements and working collaboratively to create and perform short dance sequences.
It has been fantastic to see our Year 6 students building their understanding of emotional wellbeing while also developing their confidence, creativity and ability to express themselves through movement. We look forward to seeing these skills continue to grow throughout the term!
