Debaters Maintain an Impressive Record of Success in Competitions

Our over 120 strong group of Debaters have been training, competing and improving since we began our 2026 program back in January.

From our youngest Year 5 IPSHA squad right through every year group, to our soon to depart Year 12 debaters; everyone has been putting in a huge effort to constantly improve and achieve. This week after three months of competition we had five teams qualify for the Archdale Semi Finals. Our talented 8A team were narrowly defeated in a spit decision from the panel of three adjudicators.  Happily, our other four teams 7B, 8B, Year 9 and Seniors all won through to the Grand Finals to be held at MLC School next Tuesday 25 August 2026.  It will be an exciting evening with our School represented in five out of the ten Grand Final debates to be held simultaneously on the night.

Students have also been expanding their experience by competing in our internal British Parliamentary debating tournament on Wednesday afternoons and our Friday friendly debating evenings against visiting schools. This Sunday we have seven Senior students taking time out of their very busy schedules to trial for the IGSA Archdale Representative Debating team such is their commitment to excellence.
