Water Polo

Junior World Cup

A special to congratulations to Sienna Green in Year 12 who recently captained the Australian Junior Water Polo team at the FINA Youth Women’s World Championships in Serbia. The Australian team finished 6th overall following a narrow loss to Spain in their final match.

Sienna had a very successful tournament with an impressive 5 individual goals. As the team captain, Sienna had the following words to say about her teammates:

“I am just so proud of my girls … we are really happy about our position on the list; we all wanted to sense this international experience. We’ve gathered an incredible number of applicable advice at this championship, so this was truly a wonderful journey for our team”

Everyone at SCEGGS is so very proud of you Sienna, and we are excited and look forward to celebrating many more achievements as you embark on your international career.

NSW Junior Teams

The SCEGGS Water Polo success continues with Elizabeth Shin and Claudia Quinn being named in their respective NSW State age teams.

Elizabeth was named in the born 2008 Blues Team whilst Claudia was named in born 2007 Blues Team.

Good luck to both Elizabeth and Claudia as they prepare for Nationals.

Parents Code of Conduct for Saturday Sport

It has been wonderful to see spectators allowed back on the sidelines of school sport once again. I have really enjoyed meeting and chatting with many parents at sporting fixtures throughout the year.

Since the return to sport after Covid lockdowns, there has been a significant decrease in the amount coaches, referees/umpires and officials available. All schools are struggling to supply officials and many matches, particularly at IPSHA level, do not have any referees. Some schools are using teenage school students to cover officiating duties. If you have any issues or concerns at sporting fixtures, could I request that parents contact myself via email or phone, rather than approaching coaches, referees or opposing school staff.

I have included a couple of short articles from the Play By The Rules website that offer some tips for parents and shed light on some of the complex issues faced on the sidelines at sport. I encourage everyone to have a read:

IGSA Fixtures, Results and Wet Weather

There is a new IGSA website and platform for accessing wet weather, fixtures and team results. You do not need to register or sign up to be a member to access this site.
