Inaugural Environmental Careers Afternoon

Inaugural Environmental Careers Afternoon

Do you want to be inspired about the amazing things passionate people are doing for the environment? If so, come along to our first ever environmental careers afternoon on Monday August 22 from 4pm – 6pm in the Lecture Theatre, JFSATC. Please book your complimentary ticket here.

This will be an informal afternoon with an opportunity for students and parents to listen to our presenters and ask questions in small groups. Our volunteers for the afternoon are mainly Old Girls and parents from our SCEGGS community.

We have presenters from a range of professions which include:

  • Anja Te Wake (RALPH 2003) – a town planner who worked on the net zero strategy for the City of Sydney Council and now works for the Department of Planning
  • Julie Vasadi and Rebecca Dixon – environmental lawyers
  • Eddie Mather (2003) – a renewable energy engineer specialising in large scale solar farms and battery energy storage projects
  • Dr Neeraj Sharma – a scientist working in battery research and energy storage as part of reducing our reliance on fossil fuels
  • Ed Nicholas – a waste to energy developer
  • Rose Davies (2008) – an architect specialising in environmental design
  • Dr Jessica Veliscek Carolan (2003) – a nuclear chemist working for ANSTO
  • Hannah Jones (2007) – a decarbonising design engineer
  • Sydney Gomes (2017) – a student studying a Master of Sustainability and working on regenerating farms in Victoria
  • Elizabeth Taylor – civil engineer who helped develop RedR (Registered Engineers for Disaster Relief) and is now leading a multimillion project researching the development of sustainable concrete
  • Hudson Worsley – a sustainability consultant

If you have any questions, please to not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to seeing you on Monday August 22.
