Year 7

Year 7

Another super busy week for our Year 7s has gone by! This week we had some fun during Luminary, where the Booralee girls practised some hula hooping moves. Hula hooping will be one of the challenges I will launch during camp, so it is important to practise ahead of time.

On Wednesday, we had a presentation from School Counsellor Gia Aggarwal to introduce the counselling service here at MLC School, and to reinforce the idea of the wide support that we provide here at school if any student needs it. The girls listened to the presentation beautifully and actively engaged when asked questions.

In fact, it is wonderful to see how the girls behave during assemblies, presentations, and year meetings. I am so proud of them for being so quiet, respectful and showing beautiful listening. For this reason, I awarded the entire year group a special ‘star’ directly from space.  Another reason Year 7 should be proud is how punctual they are! I think that it is important to be on time as it shows respect and organisation. Again, Year 7 has been fantastic so far. The prize for ‘most on time’ has gone to Lester this time but I encourage every Luminary group and every girl to continue to be on time for every school event, especially lessons.

On Thursday, we had our second briefing for the upcoming camp led by Adventure and Immersions Coordinator, Jack Rudd, so the girls were able to get a full understanding of how camp works. They could ask questions as well as clarify any doubt. Please remind the girls to send me an email if they have questions so that I can answer to the entire year group as an announcement on CANVAS. I can feel the excitement slowly rising, and this is fantastic. However, please remind the girls that MLC School is a ‘no phone school’ so this will apply at camp too. I trust that every girl will do the right thing.

Finally, we had vaccinations on Friday and the girls were brave, and followed instructions. I hope that their arms are not too sore at the moment.

Almost camp time now. A few more days and we are on!
