Year 10

Year 10

In Week 5, Year 10 were introduced to the Subject Selection process for their senior program. Melissa McMahon (Head of Learning and Teaching) gave a comprehensive presentation to the girls about the available options for Years 11 and Year 12 – the HSC or IB pathways. The main messages for Year 10 are to investigate both options thoroughly, ask questions, keep their options open, check prerequisites, seek advice and play to their strengths. The presentation offered lots of ideas to reflect on: What’s my learning style? What engages me? What have been my favourite subjects so far? What am I curious about? The Year 10 Luminary Canvas page has a wonderful careers resource.

Knowing how to support your daughter with these conversations can be challenging. If you need some guidance on important conversations on choosing subjects, check HERE

In Luminary this week, Year 10 will be exploring work experience options for work placement in Term 4. If you have any questions, the Futures and Pathways Team is Andrew Kozyra and Nicole Massara.

Lester House presented Chapel this week and Pastor Luisa got everyone moving on the theme of Music and Faith. Lester did a great job with the readings and presentations – a big thanks to Dijana Mastronardi (Lester House luminary) for guiding the girls in their preparation.

If you have a concern with your daughter’s learning, please contact their subject teacher. For pastoral and wellbeing concerns – please contact your daughter’s luminary and myself on sconnolly1@mlcsyd.nsw.edu.au or 02 8741 9736.
