Year 11

One of my favourite pastoral care activities in Year 11 is the time our students spend with their Year 7 Little Sisters. This week, Year 11 students led Luminary sessions on the theme of Compassion. Each Luminary group explored the concept in different ways, from writing letters to playing team-building games on the tennis courts.

We know that students are often more receptive to learning from their peers, and it was wonderful to see our Year 11 girls thoughtfully consider what is important for a Year 7 student to understand about compassion and how best to engage them in meaningful learning experiences.

During Luminary time this week, I also asked each Year 11 student to complete an examination readiness survey. The survey explored a range of areas including study timetables, study spaces, revision techniques, help-seeking strategies and perceived challenges. Motivation, time management and distractions emerged as some of the most common barriers to effective study.

On Monday, Marianna Carlino, our Director of eLearning, will be presenting to Year 11 on study skills. The data collected from the survey will help tailor her presentation to address the specific needs of Year 11. As families, I encourage you to have a conversation with your daughter about her exam preparation and discuss ways you can support her at home over the coming weeks.

Finally, congratulations to our Accelerated Studies of Religion students who sat their Trial HSC examination on Thursday. I am proud of the way they have approached this challenge and look forward to the insights and strategies they can share with the rest of Year 11 as we begin preparing for the upcoming yearly examinations.
