Congratulations to Krystal Pham (Year 9) who, on Saturday 9 March, competed at the 2024 NSW Karate State Championship in two fighting (kumite) events.

Krystal competed in the Female Cadets 14-15 years in both categories, +61kg and Opens divisions.

Krystal proudly fought outside her regular division in a higher weight category at the State Championship and achieved a Silver Medal in +61kg and Bronze in the Opens.

She was so excited but very nervous to be a part of the 2024 State Squad when the officials announced the team during the award night after the championship concluded.

Krystal will be competing in August for NSW at the 2024 National Karate Championship in Melbourne.

Krystal is currently:

• The State’s No 1 fighter in her division of -61kg
• One of three fighters for the Opens division

Krystal may also be selected at the National Championship to be one of the fighters in the team event of 3×3.

Krystal is now preparing for the 2024 Australian Open Karate Championship which will be held during the school holidays on Friday 26 April – Sunday 28 April 2024.
