Peer Support: Courage with Year 7

In luminary time this week, our Year 10 Peer Support Leaders held their final session with Year 7. The girls ran a workshop on Courage – the MLC School value being explored this term. Year 10 shared the memories and concerns they had when moving from Year 7 to Year 8, and helped the younger girls problem-solve and develop strategies to navigate the transition. Drawing on their peer support training, the leaders used warm-up activities, discussions and games – and Year 7 loved it!

A big thank you to the girls who volunteered for Peer Support this year. We hope you enjoyed the program and value the connections you have made as leaders in the senior school.

Immersion Project: Dear Future Self

This week, Year 10 received information about their Immersion Project, Dear Future Self. The project encourages the girls to reflect on three themes:

  • Identity – Who am I?

  • Aspiration – Where do I want to be?

  • Pathway – How am I going to get there?

Over the next few weeks, the girls will gather evidence, reflect on their Immersion experiences and document their journey. The project will culminate in a 5-minute presentation and viva voce with their luminary in Week 8. Students may present in a range of ways – for example, a conversation with notes, a PowerPoint or a vision board – and are encouraged to be as creative and individual as they wish. We would love you to chat with your daughter about her reflections at home.

Uniform

A reminder that Accountability Points continue to be issued for specific things, such as uniform infringements: excess jewellery, makeup and skirt length. We appreciate your support in helping your daughter meet uniform expectations.

On a positive note, girls are also receiving Heart Points for displaying the MLC School values of Courage, Compassion, Respect and Growth.
