Year 10 PASS
This term, Year 10 PASS students have been developing their knowledge and understanding of the components of fitness and the factors that influence sporting performance. Students are exploring areas including: FITT principles, types of training, biomechanics and newtons laws. Using this knowledge, they are improving their understanding of how these factors work together to improve performance.
A key focus of the term is helping students apply this knowledge to their own sporting and physical activity pathways. Students are developing a greater understanding of how they can train effectively, prepare for performance, support recovery and make informed decisions that may assist them in their own sporting pursuits.
The unit also provides students with valuable foundational knowledge for senior courses, introducing concepts and terminology that can support future study in areas such as Health and Movement Science and IB courses. Some Year 10 PASS classes have had the opportunity to assist with Year 12 IB Internal Assessment (IA) testing. This hands on experience has allowed students to observe and participate in fitness testing procedures and gain an insight into the more advanced practical and theoretical learning undertaken in the senior years.
