Year 12
On Wednesday we had the great pleasure of acknowledging the Year 12 students who were successful in their application to become a prefect. Being a part of the interview process was a hugely positive experience, having an opportunity to listen to the students articulate what they value about the school and how they view the role and the leadership that it entails. Congratulations to all students who are excellent role models for the wider school community.

I hope that all students were able to make it to the Careers and Tertiary Education Expo on Tuesday evening. It provided such a great opportunity for the cohort to ask questions, clarify some queries they have and get a firmer idea about the direction in which they are headed. Hopefully it has been motivating to think about what next, it really is an exciting time. A huge thank you to Jo Cilia who has done so much work not only on coordinating the Expo but also meeting regularly with our Year 12 students to advise them on their options. Her knowledge and wisdom are invaluable!
Finally, a huge congratulations to Azzurra Zappacosta who is the first in the Year group to receive her Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award. This is a remarkable feat, completed in what must be record time, which demonstrates great tenacity and independence. Azzurra said of her experience ‘Completing the Gold Duke of Ed award is not just about trekking for days on end or sleeping on top of a random mountain in the freezing cold – shout out to Zoe, Georgie, and Anikah, but about challenging myself to my absolute limits, while having some fun along the way. After completing the three tiers, Bronze, Silver, and then finally Gold, I found that I have grown as a student and as a young adult where the challenges of completing this award have aided me in becoming the person I am today. Overall, I truly believe that doing the Duke of Ed is a great way to discover just how strong you really are.’
