Wear it Purple Day 2026

Wear it Purple Day 2026

Fort Street celebrated a vibrant Wear-It-Purple Day on Friday 28th of August! đź’śđź’śđź’ś

The day started with the Honourable Justice Michael Kirby making a celebrity appearance at assembly. His inspirational speech detailed Fort Street’s development into a more accepting community and emphasised this day’s significance for promoting safety, pride, and inclusion of LGBTQIA+ people. He was kind enough to take photos with us and signed a Twinkie’s laptop!

Following this, the lunch celebrations began with a bake stall supplied by some expert baking. The elegant spread featured themed treats including Mr DeJong’s famous ube cookies, purple cupcakes and rainbow sprinkle chocolate slices!

In total we raised $897.95! These donations all go towards the WIPD Charity so thank you for everyone’s support.

This year’s theme “Colours of Courage” could be seen emblazoned on wrist bands offered at lunchtime, alongside pride flag quizzes and face glitter. The chalk wall made a reappearance, displaying colorful messages of support and creative drawings which can still be seen in upper Kilgour.

The Diversity Committee is looking forward to an even bigger, brighter, bolder Wear-It-Purple Day next year! Can’t wait to get planning!
