The Sydney Marathon

A big shout to our very own Ms Tucker and Ms Vaughan-Johncey who ran the Sydney Marathon on the weekend. Both finished with fantastic times which is a testament to all the training, determination and resilience that both teachers demonstrate. We are all very proud of you both.

Athletics

IGSA Athletics Championships

Thirty-five students from Years 7-12 proudly represented SCEGGS at the IGSA Athletics Carnival, competing against 26 other schools, on Thursday and Friday of Week 5. Across two exciting days of competition, our athletes demonstrated outstanding commitment, resilience and sportswomanship in track heats, finals and field events, culminating in an incredible achievement: SCEGGS being crowned Division 3 Champions!

The team’s success was built on the collective efforts of every athlete. An impressive 27 of the 35 students returned home with ribbons or medals, recognising their performances across a wide range of events. However, what stood out most was the culture of positivity and support that defined the team throughout the carnival.

Students described the experience as “amazing”, highlighting the constant encouragement from teammates, coaches and supporters. From cheering on competitors in the stands to celebrating personal bests and podium finishes, the atmosphere was electric. Many valued the opportunity to connect with students from different year groups, forming friendships through training, competition and team activities.

A special mention to Stasia Serafin in Year 7 who broke the 12 Years 100m record in both the Heat AND Final, with times of 12.99 and 12.71 seconds. The previous record was 13.03 set in 2025.

The Carnival was a wonderful celebration of athletic achievement and school spirit, with every member of the team contributing to the positive and energetic environment that helped drive our success. Congratulations to all athletes and thank you to our coaches and supporters for helping make the carnival such a memorable and rewarding experience. We look forward to building on this success next year!

Congratulations to Isla Oxley who has been selected in the NSW Dressage Squad. Isla has been busy juggling academic studies and her passion for equestrian as she competes in various competitions.

Isla, and her horse Enbarr, won Advanced Champion at the Hawkesbury Dressage Festival. She also competed in the Open classes at the NSW Youth Championships, where she came 2nd the Prix St Georges and first in the Intermediate I against the adult riders.

These fabulous results have earned Isla selection to represent SCEGGS at the Australian Interschool Championships, which will be held in Werribee, Victoria, at the end of September.

Football

Congratulations to the Easts Soccer team who won the ESFA (Eastern suburbs football Association) U14 Division. The team features several SCEGGS players:  Diya Shankar, Macy Barnett, and Tully Greiner-Sharp. They have had an amazing season with some highs and big wins.
