TAS – Spotlight on Sophie Ozkan
The TAS Department was delighted to welcome Sophie Ozkan as Design and Technology Assistant to the SCEGGS community this year. Within the TAS Department, Sophie has quickly become known for her outstanding technical knowledge and willingness to help others. She is highly skilled in a broad range of industry-standard design software, and her knowledge of digital fabrication technologies such as 3D printers, laser cutters, and vacuum formers helps bring those ideas to life.
Beyond her technical capabilities, Sophie is a patient mentor and enthusiastic collaborator. Her positive attitude and approachable nature make her a pleasure to work with, and her ability to combine creativity with practical problem-solving has already made a significant impact on our learning environment.
Sophie is a 2026 graduate of the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Design (Interaction Design), and has been recognised on the University’s Dean’s List of Excellence in Academic Performance on multiple occasions – and most recently August 2026.
We congratulate her on this remarkable achievement that speaks to both her intellectual ability and her strong work ethic. Alongside these honours, Sophie has received numerous scholarships and awards throughout her academic journey, demonstrating a consistent record of excellence and leadership.
Sophie’s professional experience is equally impressive. Before joining SCEGGS, she worked with the University of Sydney on several innovative educational and research projects. As a Student Partner on a Strategic Education Grant, she collaborated with academics and students to develop learning activities and AI-powered tools that enhanced professional skills education. This project earned a Teaching Award from the School of Health Sciences, recognising the impact of her contributions. She has also facilitated co-design workshops, conducted research internships, and undertaken freelance graphic design work, all of which have strengthened her skills in communication, collaboration, and creative problem-solving.
We are incredibly fortunate to have Sophie as part of the SCEGGS community. Her exceptional achievements, diverse talents, and commitment to education make her a tremendous asset to the TAS Department and the wider school. We look forward to seeing the many ways she will continue to inspire, support, and enrich the learning experiences of our students in the years ahead.
