Prayer for the Pope
V. Let us pray for Leo XIV, our Pope.
R. May the Lord preserve him, and give him life, and make him blessed upon the earth, and deliver him not up to the will of his enemies.
Our Father. Hail Mary.
O God, shepherd and ruler of all the faithful, look favorably on your servant Leo XIV, whom you have set at the head of your Church as her shepherd; grant, we pray, that by word and example he may be of service to those over whom he presides so that, together with the flock entrusted to his care, he may come to everlasting life.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen
Year 7 Religious Education
This term our Religion topic has been ‘Affirming Human Dignity’. We have learnt all about “Imago Dei”, the Golden Rule and how these support human dignity and human rights. We also learned about our conscience and connection with God. As taught by Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount, “Treat others as you wish to be treated”, the Golden Rule is the moral principle which ensures the inherent dignity of every person.
The thirty human rights are crucial in affirming the dignity of all people as everyone has the same rights regardless of their nationality, race, religion, gender, or background. This links to the dignity everyone has as it allows humans to have a voice and be respected.
To end our unit of “Affirming Human Dignity”, we created a board game about conscience and how it helps us make good decisions. When making the board game we put our own little twist by creating draw-cards that referred to either a ‘sin’ or ‘an act of kindness’. This allowed us all to think about the consequences and rewards of our actions in real life.
This activity was lots of fun, creating and playing each other’s board games, as well as learning about conscience and how it is the inner voice of God in each person, guiding us in decision-making. This unit was a great opportunity to learn all about the human person and the inherent dignity and equality of all people. We had lots of time for reflection and to connect with our classmates through teamwork and competitive fun!

Year 8 Reflection Day
The Year 8 Reflection Day not only brought us closer to the people in our grade, but worked to strengthen our individual relationships with God. The Youth Mission Team led us through a variety of different activities throughout the day, and in the end gave us a new perspective of social justice.
The day was filled with fun activities, audience participation, short skits, and prayer/reflection time. We were taught that even though we can push God away that He will always be there for us and forgive us for our wrongdoings and sins. The theme for the day was ‘Social Justice’ and throughout the time we spent together the YMT demonstrated interactive activities that gave us a chance to share with others our own opinions. Through different activities we were shown that we should not judge others just by their looks or at all but hear them out and listen to what they’re really about. We thank the Youth Mission Team Australia for giving us not only a wonderful day but a new perspective of God.
