Lacing Up for a Cause: MSCW Walks for Mary’s House
On Sunday, 25th October, our Marist Sisters’ College Woolwich community came together in a powerful display of solidarity, compassion, and community spirit. Joining over 1,500 participants across Sydney’s Lower North Shore, our MSCW team laced up their sneakers to conquer the scenic 8.8 km Mary’s House Walk.
It was a beautiful, energetic morning as our students, families, and staff wound through North Sydney, Waverton, and Lavender Bay. Beyond the physical challenge and the stunning harbour views, our community was driven by a shared, vital mission: to stand up against domestic and family violence and walk in solidarity with women and children in crisis.
Thanks to the incredible generosity, hustle, and heart of our community, the MSCW team fundraised over $4,000!
To put this incredible achievement into perspective, here is what a contribution of that size can mean in practical terms for Mary’s House Services:
-
- Safe Accommodation: It can provide weeks of secure, emergency refuge accommodation for a mother and her children fleeing immediate danger.
- Essential Care Packs: It can fund dozens of resource packs filled with fresh clothes, toiletries, and grocery vouchers for families arriving at a shelter with nothing but the clothes on their backs.
- Professional Support: It can cover the cost of critical, targeted counselling sessions and legal advice clinics to help survivors rebuild their lives with dignity and independence.
Our College Marist values always calls us to put our faith into action, and this initiative did exactly that. Every step taken and every dollar raised will directly change lives and offer hope to those who need it most.
A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Community
An achievement like this is only possible because of the collective heart of our College network. I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to:
-
- Our Dedicated Walkers: Thank you to the students, staff (Ms Sampson, Ms Millet and Mr d’Archy), and family members who gave up their Sunday morning to walk the 8.8 km route with such high spirits and energy.
- Our Generous Sponsors: Thank you to every parent, relative, friend, and community member who dug deep to sponsor our walkers; your financial support directly drives this vital cause.
- Our Behind-the-Scenes Champions: Thank you to everyone who shared our fundraising link, raised awareness, and cheered our team on from afar.
