Spotlight on Greg Sciortino – a Rising Star (& School Leadership Awards) winner 2026

We congratulate Mr Gregory Sciortino, HSIE Teacher and Year 9 Coordinator, on his nomination and selection for The Educator’s Rising Stars (& School Leadership Award) 2026. This showcase spotlights young professionals (under 35) making a real impact in Australia’s K–12 education sector. Forty individuals across Australia and all sectors were recognised for standing out above the rest.

“I’m very grateful to have been recognised in The Educator’s Rising Stars 2026. I feel fortunate to be part of the community at Domremy College, where I’ve been supported to grow as an educator and take on a range of opportunities … teaching has been an incredibly rewarding decision. It’s a challenging profession, but one that offers real purpose, and I’m grateful to be able to contribute in a meaningful way each day. I’m looking forward to continuing to refine my practice and contribute to the profession in the years ahead.” (Greg)

Mr Sciortino’s impact also extends beyond the classroom through his leadership in curriculum innovation and Geography education. He has played a key role in developing engaging and contemporary learning experiences across Stages 4–6, including the introduction of the College’s Global Connections elective, which encourages students to think critically about global issues, cultures and contemporary challenges. His expertise has also been recognised at a system level through his appointment as a program designer for Sydney Catholic Schools, contributing to the development and implementation of the new Geography syllabus. Through this work, Greg continues to strengthen student learning while contributing to the broader educational community.

Greg’s innate drive and initiative underscore a deep passion for shifting the focus from individual ownership toward collective responsibility. His projects to date, most notably the Laudato Si’ Garden, prioritise long-term sustainability over immediate gain. This model of stewardship provides a vital roadmap for our students, equipping them with a mindset that will serve them well both during their schooling and in their future lives.

Congratulations Greg!
