Celebrating Sir David Attenborough’s 100th Birthday

During our Environment Committee meeting on the 6th of May, we gathered to celebrate Sir David Attenborough’s 100th Birthday. Our small celebration was a reflection of his century-long commitment to protecting the natural world, and reminded us of our responsibility as stewards of creation to care for the environment. His work continues to show us that even small actions can contribute to meaningful change. By honouring his legacy, we reaffirmed our commitment to protecting the earth with intention and respect.

David Attenborough is an essential figure for our generation. Throughout his life, he has spent invaluable amounts of time on educating the latter generations on the importance of caring for the natural world, ensuring that we treat our Earth with respect and dignity. His multiple documentaries have opened windows into ecosystems many of us will never see firsthand, allowing viewers to understand the fragility and wonder of the planet in a deeply personal way. Through his storytelling, he has helped shape a global awareness of environmental issues, inspiring audiences to think critically about their relationship with the natural world and the impact of their choices.

In a time of uncertainty for our climate, young people are increasingly aware of the challenges ahead and the responsibility they carry. Across our school community, there is a growing sense of determination to understand environmental issues and take meaningful action where we can. Moments like this celebration remind us that environmental care is not just a global conversation but a local commitment; one that begins with awareness and grows through everyday choices. As we look toward the future, we hope to continue building a culture that values sustainability, curiosity, and collective effort to save our environment.
