Year 7 students in the Newman programme have almost completed a full year of high school.

What are their thoughts about Newman?

What are you enjoying?

“English is fun because we get to do novel studies and film studies.”

“Maths is challenging!”

“Doing lots of different sports each term.”

“I get to be creative in art,  music, IDEAS, PDHPE and English.”

“I dance every Tuesday morning before school, which I love.”

“Science because the concepts challenge me.”

“I am in Bel Canto and dance which I love.”

“I like how we get to do things in detail.”

“Science club is great!”

“I love the connection with my classmates.”

“We mix between independent work and collaborative learning.”

How are you coping with the assessment tasks?

“I’ve coped well, some are challenging but I just try my hardest.”

“I’ve had to learn how to organise my time.”

“I start my planning early.”

“I struggled at the beginning but I have grown to understand how and what they are.”

What do you like about being in the Newman Programme?

“I like being challenged with questions for deeper thinking.”

“I like my brain being challenged.”

“I like how I have learnt new vocabulary and have made new friends.”

“I like that we get harder challenges rather than just normal work.”

“People have similar knowledge.”

“It challenges me to work to the best of my ability.”

What about friendships?

“Everyone in the class is really nice.”

“I have friends in class but other friends from primary school at recess and lunch.”

“In tutor group I sit with other Year 7 students from different classes.”

“I get to sit with Yr 8 and 9 in tutor time and they are really nice to me.”
