As we approach the final weeks of Term 3, students across the College are engaging with significant milestones in their learning. This period offers valuable opportunities for purposeful preparation, reflection, and steady routines as we look ahead to Term 4 and the important assessments to come. The following updates outline key supports and upcoming events for students and families.

Year 12: Final Preparations for the HSC

With the HSC examinations now only one month away, Year 12 students are entering their final phase of preparation. Lessons in recent weeks have focused on targeted revision, exam practice, and consolidating the skills and knowledge developed throughout the year.

Students are encouraged to maintain a healthy balance between focused study, celebration, and selfcare. Planning ahead for all three is essential. Families may find it helpful to support students in:

  • Allocating specific blocks of time for revision
  • Scheduling graduation events realistically, acknowledging that productivity may be lower on those days
  • Maintaining a routine — regular sleep, consistent study times, and avoiding long sleepins Ensuring restful time is built into each week

In the coming days, Year 12 will receive communication regarding holiday workshops offered here at the College. Students may also wish to explore:

  • Sydney Catholic Schools workshops (inperson and online)
  • Universityrun programs, including Macquarie University’s fullday subjectspecific HSC preparation courses

To support their preparation, students are encouraged to access the College’s Study Skills Resources

  • Website: www.studyskillshandbook.com.au
  • Username: MSCW
  • Password: 93success

These resources offer practical strategies for revision, organisation, and managing study effectively.

Year 11: Completing Preliminary Examinations

Congratulations to Year 11 on completing their Preliminary Examinations. These are the most significant assessments the cohort has undertaken so far and provide valuable insight into their progress across each subject. The feedback from these exams will help students:

  • Gauge their current level of achievement
  • Set realistic expectations for their HSC year in 2027
  • Identify opportunities for academic growth and refinement

Families are encouraged to continue conversations at home about routines, organisation, and next steps as students transition into their HSC courses next term.

Years 7–10: Preparing for Term 4 Assessments

As we enter the final weeks of Term 3, students in Years 7-10 should begin turning their attention to the assessment tasks scheduled for early Term 4. This will be a significant period of study and effort, and preparing early will help students avoid unnecessary stress upon returning to school.

Families can support students by encouraging them to:

  • Plan out study across the holidays
  • Use their College Planner to map upcoming tasks
  • Start assessment preparation gradually

Small steps taken now will make a meaningful difference next term.

Looking Ahead

Term 3 has been another wonderful term of learning at MSCW. Many of our students have undertaken major examinations, showcased the skills and knowledge they have worked so hard to develop, and demonstrated remarkable resilience and commitment. As we move toward Term 4, we look forward to supporting all students in continuing their learning journey with confidence, purpose, and pride.
