Junior School Booralee Fundraiser – The Booralee Book Swap

During Book Week, Junior School students came together to celebrate their love of reading while raising funds for a very special cause. The Booralee Book Swap was a wonderful opportunity for students to share much loved stories, discover new favourites and support the important work of the Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF).

In the lead up to the event, students generously donated their pre-loved books, creating an incredible collection of stories for the Book Swap. On both Tuesday and Wednesday, there was plenty of excitement as students browsed the tables, searched for the perfect book and shared their discoveries with friends. It was wonderful to see so many books finding new homes and continuing to be enjoyed by another reader.

All funds raised from the Book Swap will be donated to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation, Booralee’s chosen charity. The ILF works alongside remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to provide access to books and literacy resources, while also supporting the creation and publication of stories in First Languages.

The Book Swap was a fantastic way to bring together the spirit of Book Week with Booralee’s ongoing commitment to supporting the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. A huge thank you to our Junior School families for their generous donations and to everyone who helped make the event such a success.

It was wonderful to see our students so excited about reading, sharing stories and making a difference through something as simple as passing on a great book!
