From the Principal

Today we acknowledged the important leadership role that every Year 12 student holds at MLC School at our Leaders’ Induction Service. While a badge or title recognises a particular role, leadership at MLC School has never been limited to those who hold one.
Every Year 12 student sets the tone for younger students who watch how they treat their friends, interact with their teachers, approach their studies, overcome challenges, and represent MLC School. They take their cues from their example, whether the older girls intend it or not. Leadership is found in everyday choices: welcoming a new student, taking responsibility, acting with integrity, and showing kindness when no one is watching.
Congratulations to all those who were acknowledged today.
Uniform review update
Last year we sought input from our School community regarding the current School Uniform and suggestions as to how it should be improved and updated. Many suggestions were received from students, staff, and parents. We then shared the feedback with our uniform supplier, Midford.
In undertaking the review, we aim to honour the legacy and historical significance of elements in the existing uniform, while updating it to ensure that it is comfortable, smart, and inclusive. Rather than seeking wholesale changes or a complete redesign, the focus is on thoughtful adjustments that respect tradition while embracing inclusivity and modernity. This balanced approach ensures continuity and connection with the past while evolving to meet present-day needs.
One of the suggestions; the option of more modest and supportive swimwear has already been actioned, and these will be available in the uniform shop from next week.
In addition, Midford has now manufactured a range of sample garments and provided an array of uniform options for us to consider.
Those parents who were part of the Uniform Committee last year will be contacted to ask if they would like to continue to be involved. If you were not involved last year but would like to express interest in doing so, please contact Tracy Neale tneale@mlcsyd.nsw.edu.au.
Once the Uniform Committee has considered the many options on offer and made their recommendations, we will share the proposed changes and additions for further feedback.
Any changes will be gradually phased in from the start of 2028, with a period of transition to reduce financial and environmental impact.
