Year 5 Reflections on Canberra Experience

Year 5 Reflections on Canberra Experience

The Canberra experience was great! My highlights of the trip were the tour of the Australian War Memorial and the Australian Electoral Commission. The Australian War Memorial honours the people who fought and sacrificed themselves for a better Australia, and at the Australian Electoral Commission, we got to experience how to vote.  Although I doubted the motel because of the way it looked on the outside, the inside was great! This is what I call ‘Don’t judge a book by its cover’. The food on this Immersion trip was good; I loved the sausages and hash browns, which were heavenly! The whole trip was amazing, and I wish I could rewind the three days and do everything again!

Year 5 had an amazing time on our three-day trip to Canberra. We all had the excellent opportunity to visit the Royal Australian Mint, Parliament House, the Museum of Australian Democracy and many other places on our exciting journey. The highlight of my time in Canberra was going to the Royal Australian Mint. There, we marvelled at a wall filled with collector coins featuring Australian icons like Bluey. We even saw five- and ten-dollar coins! There was also a coin generator that our group used to create our own coin, which we had electronically displayed on the wall. Overall, Year 5 had an unforgettable Canberra Immersion that we really enjoyed and would love to do again!
