MLC School Cadets Honour Kokoda Day
MLC School Cadets took part in the catafalque party at the 2026 Kokoda Day service, contributing to a significant occasion of remembrance. Their participation placed our students at the heart of a ceremony honouring service and sacrifice, alongside representatives from across the wider community.
Taking part in the catafalque party was an opportunity to serve beyond the school gates and contribute to the shared responsibility of remembrance. For MLC School, this involvement reflects the importance of giving young people meaningful opportunities to connect with commemorative traditions and honour those who came before them.
The service’s special guest of honour was Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia. Other distinguished guests included the Hon. Richard Marles MP, Acting Prime Minister, and the Archbishop of Rabaul, Rochus Josef Tatamai, M.S.C.
They were joined by representatives from State and Local Government, current Defence members, many NSW RSL Sub-Branches, school and community groups, and members of the Diplomatic Corps. Together, those gathered marked the occasion in a shared spirit of respect and remembrance.
We thank our cadets for representing MLC School in this important commemorative role. Their involvement is a reminder that remembrance belongs to every generation, and that young people have a meaningful part to play in carrying it forward.
Lest we forget.
