Year 6 and Sydney Science Park Panel

Year 6 and Sydney Science Park Panel

As part of MLC School’s partnership with Sydney Science Park, Year 6 students recently had the opportunity to discuss their upcoming research projects with specialists in the fields of Health, Heat, Urban Agriculture, and Circular Economy.

As part of the Year 6 CLP unit, Understanding the Properties of Matter Helps Make Sydney Science Park Innovative, Liveable and Sustainable, students explore real world challenges and opportunities connected to the development of sustainable communities.

Working alongside Year 6 teachers and STEM educators, students follow a design thinking cycle to investigate authentic problems, develop innovative solutions, and apply their learning in meaningful ways. In collaborative groups, students research, design and create a product that addresses a challenge linked to their area of focus.

The project culminates in a Showcase, where students present their ideas and prototypes, demonstrating their creativity, critical thinking and understanding of how science and innovation can contribute to a more sustainable future.
