College Theme Launch – Our Flight to the Stars

College Theme Launch – Our Flight to the Stars

We are very excited to have presented to the College community the theme for 2024, “Our Flight to The Stars!!”

At our leadership camp last year, the senior student leadership team spent many, many hours brainstorming and articulating what we wanted for our community in 2024. After much deliberation, we created this theme, because it represents a variety of things for us:

  • “Our” symbolises the collective journey we are taking together, as a community, towards our goals and dreams. The inclusion of this word aims to promote inclusivity and foster a sense of support and camaraderie among students
  • “Flight” represents the journey towards our hopes and aspirations. While there may be some turbulence on the flight, and it may take time, we will eventually reach our destination. We recognise that this journey will be different for each individual
  • “Stars” convey the goals, dreams, aspirations and ambitions of the St Ursula’s community. While everyone has different stars they will be striving towards, we are all supporting one another to get there. The idea of stars also links closely with the Ursa Bear constellation – while we are all trying to reach our own stars, together we make up one constellation.

We were very excited to launch our theme to the students and staff with an exciting assembly that included our signature song ‘A Sky Full of Stars’ – Coldplay;  a lightshow with our fellow leaders “directing the flight”; the reveal of our logo and our physical symbol; and best of all, the excitement of the students!

In order to carry this excitement and empowerment throughout the year, we created a big, canvas passport to symbolise the beginning of our journey. It will give us the opportunity to decorate it with star-shaped stamps that will represent every initiative we have created, mirroring the landmarks we will pass on our journey. Through this, we will be able to remember, with every aspect of this year, to truly embrace our journey and strive to achieve our full potential in all that we do!

We are so excited to begin this journey as a community, and can’t wait to see what each student can achieve on “Our Flight to the Stars”.
