Music Matters
Congratulations to Caitlin Cameron
Congratulations to Caitlin Cameron (Year 11), who has been awarded her Associate in Music, Australia (AMusA) diploma in piano.
Awarded by the Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB), the AMusA is a prestigious qualification recognising musical achievement beyond Grade 8. It requires advanced technical skill, expressive and stylistically informed playing, and a sophisticated understanding of the music performed.
Guest Musicians working with Amati Strings
Amati Strings was incredibly fortunate to work with violinist Harry Bennetts, Associate Concertmaster of the Sydney Symphony and cellist Eliza Sdraulig from the Australian Chamber Orchestra in rehearsal last week.
Miranda Lin in Year 10 will be a featured soloist accompanied by Amati Strings performing Summer from The Four Seasons by Vivaldi for the Festival of Lessons and Carols services later this term. This beautiful piece features a busy continuo part.
Year 10 cellists Elizabeth Teoh and Georgina Auld worked closely with Eliza and Ms Stephanie Holmes to learn this. Harry and Eliza have a wealth of experience in performance with both symphony orchestras and chamber music.
It was wonderful for the Amati Strings musicians to sit alongside these virtuosic professional musicians and be guided and inspired by them! Harry and Eliza play in Chroma String Quartet, and they look forward to returning to SCEGGS in 2027 with the other two members of the quartet to perform to and play alongside our secondary string players.
