06 May 2022

From the Principal – Ms Gilda Pussich

On 1st May we celebrate the Feast of St Joseph the Worker. Please take a moment to pray:

St. Joseph,
by the work of your hands and the sweat of your brow,
you supported Jesus and Mary, and had the Son of God as your fellow worker.
Teach me to work as you did, with patience and perseverance,
for God and for those whom God has given me to support.

Teach me to see in my fellow workers the Christ who desires to be in them,
that I may always be charitable and forbearing towards all.
Grant me to look upon work with the eyes of faith,
so that I shall recognise in it my share in God’s own creative activity
and in Christ’s work of our redemption, and so take pride in it.

When it is pleasant and productive,
remind me to give thanks to God for it.
And when it is burdensome,
teach me to offer it to God, in reparation for my sins and the sins of the world.
O good father St. Joseph!
I beg you, by all your sufferings, sorrows and joys, to obtain for me what I ask.

Obtain for all those who have asked my prayers,
everything that is useful to them in the plan of God.
Be near to me in my last moments
that I may eternally sing the praises of
Jesus, Mary and Joseph.
Amen.

ANZAC Day

We thank our staff and students who joined in local community ANZAC Day services on Monday 25th April. A special thank you to Miss Katya Floyd and Miss Andrea Fernandes. We also commemorated this most significant day in Australian history with a liturgies, prepared by Miss Josephine Ayoub, in Homeroom on Wednesday 27th April. As a College, we are grateful to the past and present service women and men for their years of dedication, sacrifice and commitment for our country.

They shall grow not old,
as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them,
nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun
and in the morning
We will remember them.
Lest we forget

COVID Update

Year 7-11 students were issued with additional Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) Kits during the week. Year 12 students should receive their kits on Monday. Please use these RAT Kits if your daughter has symptoms or needs to test daily because she is a household contact.

To minimise the risk of transmission of COVID-19 we need your support. If your daughter has any COVID symptoms (sore throat, sneezing, etc) keep her at home and get her to do a PCR Test or RAT. If your daughter tests negative she needs to remain at home until her symptoms are gone. She should do another RAT on the morning of her return and only come to school if it is negative again.

If your daughter tests positive please ensure that:

  • She remains at home until her symptoms are gone
  • The school is notified – her Year Coordinator is the best person to contact
  • Service NSW is notified if she undertook a RAT
  • Send documentation from Service NSW (not a photo of the RAT) to school showing your daughter’s name and dates of isolation.

If a member of your household tests positive please ensure that:

  • If your daughter stays at home if she is unwell and gets tested for COVID
  • The school is notified – her Year Coordinator is the best person to contact
  • Send documentation from Service NSW (not a photo of the RAT) to school showing the dates of isolation.
  • If your daughter is well and tests negative she should attend school. Your daughter must:
    • Do a daily morning RAT for 5 school days and come to school following obtaining a negative result
    • She must wear a mask
    • She must be mindful of others when in crowds – she may be asked to withdraw from some activities

The College continues its processes for minimising the risk of transmission of COVID-19:

  • Distribution of extra RATs to students and staff
  • No one who has COVID symptoms is allowed onsite
  • Encourage vaccination
  • Visitors (not parents or students) must be vaccinated
  • Maximise ventilation – keep windows and doors open
  • Maintain COVID safe practices e.g. regular hand washing, not attending if sick
  • Continued enhanced cleaning of high touch areas
  • Risk assessments of school activities and events
Kind regards
Gilda Pussich
