Year 10
A very proud moment for MLC School as the Year 10 Cadets represented us during the ANZAC Service on Tuesday morning. The Year 10 Cadets are a large part of the MLC School Cadet corps and we look forward to their leadership and guidance of the corps in the years to come.
Assessments for Term 2 started this week and we wish the girls success. Pre assessment nerves are a normal part of the process, and such positive stress can be a motivating factor in preparation for tests. As part of their preparation, we encourage the girls to reduce their stress by planning ahead, making time for revision, using a study plan and prioritising good sleep and diet to support their memory. Assessments are an opportunity for growth and for students to see their accomplishments and reward. If you notice your daughter is struggling with pre-test anxiety that is impacting on her normal functioning (sleep, diet, mood), please reach out to your daughter’s class teacher for subject specific coaching. If the issue is more widespread over several subjects, please get in touch with your daughter’s luminary and me for support at school. Early intervention in Year 10 with these issues is essential for positive growth and mental health in Years 11 and Year 12.
Study Hub+, as well as the subject clinics run before school by Mathematics and English, are a great way for your daughter to use her time at school productively, leaving space for family, sports and relaxation after school. Details of Study Hub+ for Year 10 are on Omnia and you can contact Ela Huber (Study Hub+ coordinator) on ehuber@mlcsyd.nsw.edu.au for details.
As this newsletter goes to press, Year 10 will have had a wonderful day of celebration for MLC School’s 140th Anniversary celebrations and we are looking forward to sharing the details with you via our socials.
Please continue to note your daughter’s uniform as we get into the winter term: skirt length (on the knee), jewellery and make up (no excessive makeup such as nail polish, false lashes, nail extensions, blush, mascara and lipstick). Thank you for your support in this space. Uniform passes can be obtained from my office prior to the commencement of the school day.
If you have any concerns about your daughter’s learning, please contact her class teacher. If you wish to discuss your daughter’s wellbeing or she needs some support at school, please get in touch with your daughter’s luminary and myself on 02 8741 9736 or sconnolly1@mlcsyd.nsw.edu.au I am available for meetings, phone discussions or Teams meetings Monday to Friday.
