From the Head Senior School
Another fabulous week in the Senior School this week, with our ANZAC service and our Back to College 140th year celebrations today. Every week I am proud to be at this school, but I was especially proud this week!
It has been great to see the girls in their winter uniforms starting the term. We have been particularly pleased to see the hats worn at lunchtimes and at our whole school gatherings. A reminder as the weather grows colder, I reminded the girls of the following at assembly:
-
-
-
-
- Blazers must be worn to and from school. They must not just be worn at the school gate, but all the way home including on public transport and at Westfield
-
-
-
- If students in Year 7 to Year 9 choose to wear the scarf, they must still be wearing their tie
- The tunic must be worn with the belt
- Uniform and jewellery standards apply at co-curricular activities and at Sport
Mother’s Day celebrations
Looking forward to next week, our Mother’s Day celebrations will shortly be upon us. Melissa Boyd, Deputy Principal and I will be participating in the Mother’s Day Classic on Sunday, May 10. It would be wonderful to see as many of the community as possible walking with the MLC School team, it really is a wonderful morning, supporting women’s cancer research. Join our team! I hope to also see as many people as possible at the Mother’s Day breakfast.
Staffing news
We are very excited to announce that we have a new member of the Languages faculty this week as Helene Schmidt welcomed her baby girl! Felicitations to Helene and her family.
Following the break, we were advised that Janet Li would not be returning to her position as a Science teacher, taking a break from the full time classroom due to personal reasons. We wish her all the best. We are in the process of interviewing some excellent applicants to join the Science faculty with immediate effect. In the meantime, we are pleased that highly experienced Science teachers, Tina Harb and Felicity Cassidy-Powell will be taking the classes and our Head of Science, Maryellen Ottaway will be communicating with each class once a permanent allocation is made. I am confident that the classes will be supported to ensure that disruption is minimised.
